hello again, friends! it's been a long week of stomach flu fun for me but i'm back and happy to catch up on everything i missed.
From Oh?
It looks like my childhood is coming back to get me this fall. With Where the Wild Things Are and Fantastic Mr. Fox coming out, I feel like I should hunt down my parochial school uniform and start drinking my Coke-a-Cola through a Red Vine.
this past week i hid under a heap of blankets and watched the first season of mad men. everyone recommended this show to me and i had no idea how amazing it was until this week. I. Love. Mad Men. Anyway, it was a pleasant surprise to come back to real life and see Jon Hamm and January Jones in Vanity Fair, shot beautifully (of course) by Annie Lebowitz.
{originally found on for me, for you}
i almost cried when i read that journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee finally came home after 140 days of imprisonment. i had been so worried about these two and was overjoyed to hear that Wild Bill saved the day.
and of course, i was saddened to hear about the untimely passing of John Hughes. i was raised on Ferris Bueller references and Uncle Buck reruns, this man helped define an era for me. this year has not been good to my childhood icons.
on a more positive note, i went to see funny people. like most of us, i adore the Midas touch that judd apatow seems to have. i left the theater not entirely knowing what the point was, but the random cameos peppered throughout make the movie worth it.
ok, that's it for now! more to come soon, thanks for reading :)
welcome back =)
